TToT: Last of 2013

The last TToT of the year! Come join in, link up or just READ UP and glow in the bask (strike that, reverse it) of the Things Thankful!

1.      Thankful I started this list a couple of days ago! Busy weekend, and aren’t they all in December??
2.    Ugly Christmas sweaters. Can't help it, I love em.

3.    Thankful our snow started early this year, hoping that means we won’t get as many snows in April. I have no knowledge of weather and that’s probably not how it works, so don’t tell me. My cold bones and lack of Vitamin D NEED THIS hahaha.

4.    Eternally grateful my life partner is less concerned about holiday traditions, and understands I need to be flexible at stressful times, or we will all be miserable. (Explained more in the post here if you click the link.)

5.     My sister is watching my girls tonight. SO THANKFUL for a small break. We will have to do Christmas shopping, but at least we can stop for drinks now!

6.    This is going to sound weird, as I was thankful for the opposite a few weeks ago, but I’m thankful my son realized his current job is not working out (loooong story, but they send him home. A LOT. Without pay and then they still take Union dues. Not working, not to mention how far it is.) We just need to get him another job, hopefully that will happen, but it was taking almost TWO HOURS every day to drop him off, get home and have him call me to come BACK and get him right away. For no pay.

7.     I’m really trying to be thankful for dentists. Bad experiences, bad teeth, bad dentists, bad insurance make me fear/loathe going to the dentist, but I know that if I never went to my dreaded once a year (I know) appointment, my awful teeth would be so much worse.

8.    Thankful my teeth aren’t worse than they are. I couldn’t handle or afford any more dental appointments right now. (I’m blowing off tons of work I do need done.)

9.    While I’m at it, so thankful we’re all healthy. My horrible housekeeping has obviously built up our immune systems to weapons-grade.

10.                     The wonderful pictures I find online, like this one which I LOVE.
Cersei, Danny and Tyrion are brunettes IRL. Jamie though!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you. Hope you all have a magically happy and THANKFUL holiday season!

  1. I pick B. I do love some whiskey, but I like the traditional decor on B. And I drink Maker's Mark anyway.

    1. I am not a huge whiskey fan, but in egg nog and things like that, it's do-able!
      Maker's Mark, good taste!

  2. Me no likee whiskey...I've tried a few (sips of different kinds, at different times) and they just taste like drinking harsh, liquified smoke. Too harsh for me.

Amaretto's FAR more my kinda drink. Or red wine. Or Snakebite and Black (or all three, as I found last night...nevermind)

YAY for your list. I'm glad your son's job is going to change. I hope he finds something more local and more suitable.

Only go to the dentist if you really need it. That's the best and cheapest philosophy.

    The humping jumper is AWESOME.

And you only need a tanning salon to get aaaaaaaaaaaalll the vit D in the world :)

    1. Boy, as usual you really put into words how I feel, "harsh liquified smoke" is a much better description than mine for whiskey, which is usually just "poison."
I MUCH prefer amaretto! In anything, milk, coffee, orange juice, by itself!
You may have created a new catch-phrase: Humping jumper. It just rolls right off the tongue!
I would LOVE to go to a tanning bed right now, and just take a NAP at least in there! hahaha probably not a good idea, but if memory serves, they are usually set up on a timer, thankfully! I just need someone to come shake me awake after awhile :)

    how very cool is that?
the contest over at the Doctrine allows people to submit entries on the behalf of others, and by virtue of being the recently appointed 'Lord of Misrule' I thought I'd go ahead and just submit something for you in the Contest.

    no! no it's not a bother….lol

    1. They do make indoor lights that are supposed to fight SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder, and no, I didn't make that up, it's allegedly a thing!)
Thank you ever so much for entering me in the contest....I think ;)

  4. I don't think the sweater is ugly :-) Maybe I should start a holiday tradition of funny sweaters?

    1. I didn't think so either, a little....disturbing? Or maybe slightly inappropriate? But I have definitely seen - and WORN - much uglier items of clothing!
I love the idea of Funny Sweaters! There is a web site, probably many, and blogs for "Ugly Sweaters" so why not funny and make it all year long?? I'm down!

  5. Haha! Great list. I'm always trying to explain to my partner that by not cleaning our house I'm actually HELPING the family by building up all our immune systems. LOL! Love that your spirit animal is an over-caffeinated sloth. That's gold. Two things we have in common!!

  6. I didn't catch the sweater until I read the comment about the humping jumper! I am so oblivious at times... yeah, ugly xmas sweaters... theyre kinda like B movies... tacky but you have to watch...Have a great coupla weeks and enjoy time with hubs shopping and drinks... I would choose the jack tree... used to love whiskey.... haven't had it in years so a whole tree of it may be overkill but Id be willing to try.

    1. That's the thing about that particular sweater, it's so subtle you don't really notice what the reindeer are DOING. I think I need that sweater.
I have a love/hate relationship with whiskey, but mixed with something it's usually tolerable. Straight up, most of it is for cowboys, but in eggnog? Delish.

  7. I just left a comment on your post about Christmas traditions, but I agree that traditions should serve the family. Families shouldn't be slaves to tradition. I value tradition, but there has to be a purpose. I'm glad you seem to have found a good balance for your family!

  8. Glad that the teeth are alright! And, yes, we're all in a holiday mood. Thanks for sharing with us this week!

  9. B. I'm not a whiskey drinker so I'd pick B. And I adore the Humping Buck sweater! LOL. OH, yes, thank the lord for dentists. But I hate going. I get it. OY.

I'm right there with you on being able to survive any virus thrown our way. We have amazing immune systems over here - according to the fact the entire upstairs looks like a friggin' Frat house.
